The Truths... about the Bible

LIE : The Bible is Boring
TRUTH : The Bible is probably the most exciting book in print!

for romance, Song of Songs.
action and intensity, 1 and 2 Kings.
poetry, Psalms.
advice, Proverbs.
what will happen in the future, Revelation.
drama, Judges.
family squabbles, Genesis.
the absolute truth, every chapter every book. this is the one to read!

LIE : It is hard to understand
TRUTH : Search for a translation or a paraphrase that's easy to read.

try reading your favourite verse in several different translations, then purchase the one easiest to understand.
Example : 1st Timothy 4:12
New International Version - Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young.
American Standard - Let no one look down on your youthfulness.
The Living Bible paraphrase - Don't let anyone think little of you because you are young.
The Message paraphrase - And don't let anyone put you down because you are young.
New King James - Let no one despise your youth.
King James - Let no man despise thy youth.

LIE : I don't need to read the Bible. It's not really that important.
TRUTH : The whole Bible was given to us by inspiration from God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives; it straightens us out and helps us do what is right. It is God's way of making us well prepared at every point, fully equipped to do good to everyone. (2Timothy 3:16-17 The Living Bible)

LIE : It's not relevant.
TRUTH : Get a student Bible.

These are filled with graphics, cool maps, quizzes and all kinds of easy-to-understand explanations about how the Bible relates to your everyday life.

LIE : I've already read it. Why read it again?
TRUTH : Each time you read the Bible, God will show you something new. He'll continue to speak through you through His Word as long as you continue to read it.

God Bless! :)
